Virtual Blog Tour–Rachel Anderson with The Reluctant Bachelorette

26 Oct

Today I have a guest post by author Rachel Anderson who stops by during her virtual book tour for her newest release titled The Reluctant Bachelorette.

Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it’s up to the viewers–not her–to decide which bachelors stay or go.

Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke’s an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she’s up to, it means revenge.

But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?

Why Romantic Comedies

I first started enjoying romances way back in junior high. But as I read more and more, I started to get pickier and pickier. It didn’t take me long to figure out that if the characters were too placid or didn’t play off each other well, I’d get bored and skip to the end. I actually got to a point where I would flip open a book, read a few pages of dialogue, and then decide if I wanted to read the book based on that.
I guess you could say that I judged a book first by its cover and then by its conversations. And what I loved the most typically fell under the category of romantic comedies. Not slapstick-type stuff. More like real stories, told with dry and witty humor, entertaining dialogue, and funny/tender/real situations. Think “While You Were Sleeping” or “You’ve Got Mail.”

I like to smile. And laugh. And read about two people falling in love. I love other genres too, but I always come back to the romantic comedies. Which is probably why I love to write them.
