Gratitude Giveaways 11/15- 11/25

14 Nov

Dear Reader,

This post is for you and about you. For many months you’ve stopped by and read my blog. Sometimes you’ve left comments, sometimes you’ve liked or friended me. Sometimes you stumbled once and never returned. And that’s a-okay. I’m still grateful you came. And for the readers out there that never found me, I hope one day the universe will work its magic and bring you here.

I am beyond grateful YOU exist. And what better way to honor YOU than to reward you with … granting you a wish (no, the goldfish is not my cousin . . . ) As part of the Gratitude Giveaways Blog Hop organized by Kathy @ I’m A Reader Not A Writer  you can win a book you want, a gift card, a DVD, tickets to a movie, you name it as long as it’s within a $15.00 budget, you go for it.

All you have to do is leave a comment about what you’re most grateful for and you are one step closer to winning. The winner will be announced on 11/26. NO need to like me, follow me, friend me, but if you still want to do it, I won’t say no. Whatever you decide to do is fine with me.

Lots of love and appreciation!

Yours truly,

Cami

I’m grateful that mykids are healthy. I see so many people who have kids with health issues or even those who have fertility trouble. It makes me feel blessed that I have two healthy happy kids.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:00 pm #

      Jessica,

This is indeed a great reason to be grateful.
You’re right: we look around us and there are so many people less fortunate.
I’m blessed with one healthy, incredible son.
      Lots of love!

  2. Think @ Thinks Books November 14, 2012 at 8:00 pm #

I am grateful for my parents. They mean everything to me! I loved what you wrote up. Very nice.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:16 pm #

      Think,

THANK you for stopping by. Parents are real treasures: as long as they are around they are real fountains of love, wisdom and laughter. When we lose them we have all the memories, all the good things they taught us to guide us further. My parents live in Romania, I live in the US. Needless to say I miss them everyday. We skype on the weekends and it’s much easier now because we can see each other, even though behind a glass. So, a big shout of THANK you to all the parents out there! We love youuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Thank you for such an awesome blog and giveaway! 🙂

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:19 pm #

      Ah, Marie,
Family and loved ones–this is another amazing reason to be grateful. They accept us the way we are and love us unconditionally. In return we love them back. Lots of love for you and yours!

  4. Maegan Morin November 14, 2012 at 8:00 pm #

I’m grateful for my family. My kids are fantastic and my husband is the most patient kind and caring man I know. Without them I would be lost.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:21 pm #

      Maegan,

Yes, husbands! We are grateful for them, too. I joke about mine saying I moved around the world to follow my heart and the man who stole it. Yeah, he is a thief, alright, but he is mine. To all the good husbands out there keep loving us. To the bad ones: you better get your act together or else :/

  5. Tayteh November 14, 2012 at 8:03 pm #

I’m grateful for my dog, wylie. I love him to pieces. 🙂

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:25 pm #

      Tayteh,
OMG, PETS! Yes we love them. They are part of our families, make us laugh most of the time (except when we have to pick up the poo, right?).
I brought my dog Bella from Romania and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. She’s precious when she humps my son, cons my husband into sharing his dinner with her and does tricks for popcorn.
      Thank for stopping by! xoxo

  6. Alicia November 14, 2012 at 8:04 pm #

I am grateful for my family and for all the blessings we have been given, as much hardship as we may face I know that we will never be given more than we can handle.

Thanks for having the giveaway! 🙂

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:29 pm #

      Alicia,

This is very thoughtful. Without becoming too religious (which I’m not) we have a saying back home in Romania: God never gives us more than we can bare. I think this saying can be argued especially when the things we carry seem more than one cross…Lots of love to you and your family!

  7. tinar19 November 14, 2012 at 8:13 pm #

I’m grateful for the moment you entered into my life!
Don’t enter me in the contest.
    Love ya, SC ❤

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:39 pm #

Silly bird, you made me cry. Yeah, you SC. People, let me tell you about SC: she’s one of the most amazing, generous, incredible friend I could possibly ask for. Love for book and reading brought us together. She’s one of the blessings I’m grateful for every day when I send out there to the universe my love, prayers and good thoughts. I hope you all are blessed with at least one friend like SC.
      Lots of LOVE!

  8. Brent November 14, 2012 at 8:15 pm #

im most grateful for my parents and brother.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:35 pm #

      Brent,

Parents and brother, what a wonderful reason to be grateful for. I have two sisters, one lives a few mile away, the other lives in Germany. I’m close to both of them and cherish every minute together. To all siblings in the world: you all ROCK!!!

  9. DANIELA November 14, 2012 at 8:19 pm #

I’m thankful for my family and health 🙂

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:32 pm #

      Daniela,
you’re absolutely right, family matters most. Health is precious, and often neglected. Let’s cheer to our health. For the people out there with a precarious health may they find the strength to fight whatever disease they suffer from. I send them lots of love, sun and smiles.

  10. Izz November 14, 2012 at 8:40 pm #

A lot of things that I’m grateful for, the things that made me who I am today, my parents, my brother & sisters, friends and of course God.
I’ve been following your blog for a while and thanks for this giveaway 🙂

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 14, 2012 at 8:44 pm #

      Izz,

I thank you for being one of my loyal readers. And since a lot of the readers mentioned already parents, siblings and friends, let’s make this one special for God. For those of you out there, who found God: may he watch over you. And for those of you questioning His existence the answer lays in you.
      Lots of love, Izz!

  11. Jesse Kimmel-Freeman November 14, 2012 at 8:57 pm #

Besides the obvious of my family (both human and furry), I am grateful to have been gifted with an imagination to be able to write stories. I love the fact that as a writer I can bring new worlds and friends to people. It is amazing when you find out that something you’ve written helps someone through a tough time like chemo therapy or something like that.

    Thanks for the chance!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 8:43 am #

Oh Jesse, how I understand you! The stories we create, the heroes we shape they are as part of us as any real people. I feel so blessed to hear them talk to me, despite the fact that sometimes bathroom breaks can become a little… crowded. LOL Have yet to teach those heroes to stay BEHIND the door at certain times. Lots of love!

  12. starryblue November 14, 2012 at 9:55 pm #

I’m thankful for my loving parents.

  13. Andrea Diaz November 14, 2012 at 10:01 pm #

I’m grateful for books. If it weren’t for them, I would have given into my depression long ago. What better way to get away from all the negative things in life than to open a new door?

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 8:46 am #

      Andrea,
YES, books to the sky that’s how many I want and would still want more. They take us to paces we maybe can’t afford to go, give us hope and above all feed a thirst for knowledge we must keep alive.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  14. Author Sherry Gammon November 14, 2012 at 10:06 pm #

I’m grateful for you and your friendship. I’m grateful you allowed me to join your little group, despite my short comings, and have helped me become a better writer! So you, Cami, is (are?) what I am grateful. Thank you! P.S. Please finished Tarzan. I’m dying to read it!!!!!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 8:50 am #

Sherry, hon, I wouldn’t have it any other way. You came into our group and you fit in like a velvet glove. Thank you for sharing this amazing journey we embark on called WRITING. To many many new adventures and lots of books.
      XOXO
P.S: Tarzan will be done, I promise. Zyraxes stole the spotlight for now…

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 8:53 am #

I am grateful for my boyfriend, who I’ve been with for seven years. He is loving, caring and is so supportive of me and anything that I want to do.

I am also grateful for my four hamsters: Squanto, Leo, Bulma and Hamtaro. They are very sweet and caring animals.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 8:56 am #

      Eden,

I wish you all the best with your boyfriend. He seems like a nice guy 😉 As for the hamsters, everyone a big round of applause for the four-legged friends of Eden’s: Squanto, Leo, Bulma, Hamtaro. Cute names!

  17. Kirsten November 15, 2012 at 12:00 am #

I’m thankful that my mother and I are growing closer again 🙂

    aircdrewood(at)gmail(dot)com

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 9:21 am #

      Kirsten,

I know what you mean when the relationship with either parent is not working. For years I resented my father for the many beatings he gave me as a child. He had no clue how to raise us and, he made sure we know that. It took me forever to forgive him and move on. I still remember the purple bruises he gave me, but I forgave him. I had to in order to live my life. Whatever strains a relationship between a child and a parent sometimes can be fixed. Sometimes the damage is too big and nothing can be done. But it looks you found a way to work on that. I wish you and your mom all the best. Lots of love!

  18. Becca Fowler November 15, 2012 at 12:03 am #

  19. Karina A. November 15, 2012 at 2:13 am #

I’m grateful for the life God has given me and for finally having a direction in my life. I’ve been unemployed for months and I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to happen and it did. It was worth the wait. So thank God! Also for my family and friends’ support.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 9:28 am #

      Karina,

  21. wickedandweirdaroundtheworld November 15, 2012 at 4:48 am #

I am grateful for the fact that I live in a free country and can love the person I do – without fear of external forces like war, segregation or political strife keeping us apart. I am very fortunate to live in the place and time that I do.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 9:49 am #

      Cat,

This is so true. We do take freedom and peace for granted, but it’s good to once in a while remember that not everyone lives in a country that allows everyone to express themselves freely and exercise their rights. I’ve grown under the communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu, I understand oppression and fear very well. To freedom and peace: may every human being get to experience it!

  22. Christy Maurer November 15, 2012 at 5:03 am #

I am most grateful for my healthy, amazing children. My daughter just turned 18 and my son 15. They are so much fun to be with, and I enjoy every second we have together. I know all too soon they will be out of my home, and I will miss them tremendously! I am so thankful that God gave them to me 🙂 Thank you so much for doing this giveaway!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 9:51 am #

      Christy,

Congrats on having such great kids. It’s so wonderful to see them grow and turn into the adults of tomorrow. Their success is ours as well as their heartbreaks. But, as long as we are around to guide them, they will be ok. Hugs to you and yours!

  40. Texas Book Lover November 15, 2012 at 11:49 am #

I am grateful for my wonderful husband and that we are able to provide for our children! From a house over our heads, food to eat, clothes to wear, to soccer and dance lessons. Even the braces my oldest daughter just got removed (WooHoo!) and the wisdom teeth she has to get extracted on Monday. Without each other there is no way we could do it and there are lots of people who aren’t as lucky.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 12:01 pm #

Woot-Woot, ata a girl! So many things to be grateful for, even the little things we have a tendency to overlook. Lots of love, TX Mama!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 1:09 pm #

Crystal makes a valid point:grateful for TIME. My New Year Resolution was NOT to say: I have no time. I managed to keep it until about June and I was disappointed I couldn’t hold onto until this December. But… at least I tried. So, to all the times we find time to do the things we love…to many more.

  42. Julie Witt November 15, 2012 at 1:05 pm #

It probably sounds cheesy but I’m most grateful for my kids! We’ve had a really tough year emotionally and financially but we’re still here and we’re as strong as ever, and that’s really all I could wish for 😀

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 1:18 pm #

      Julie, hon,

There’s nothing cheese about being grateful for your kids. We all have moments when we want to put them up on craigslist for free (even free delivery), but we end up keeping them. Life it’s a journey we share with family. And when kids come along, well… that’s a roller coaster. Lots of love to you and yours!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 15, 2012 at 1:41 pm #

OMG, Cordelia, this one made me laugh! Can’t agree more. One more day of sickening advertising, pointing fingers and he-said, she-said and I was ready to throw in the towel. Are our politicians ever going to grasp the fact that we want actions not empty words?

  71. Anne November 16, 2012 at 11:59 am #

I’ve been saying my job, which is especially true this year, but also that my three cats are healthy, young (8 and 6) and get along. I take it for granted, but the comment about eye sight by another poster is so true since I’m a huge, huge reader. I do listen to audio books in the car and at work, but there’s nothing like reading at your own pace.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 16, 2012 at 1:18 pm #

Oh, Anne, what I love most about everyone’s comments is that they sit back, reflect on what matters most and then realize that these things we take for granted aren’t gifts everyone else enjoys. So yes, having a job is so important, having loving pets too, but seeing is one of the best gifts we are blessed on a daily basis.

I am grateful for so many things this year. My health, my home, my books, my freedom. This year it seems something has changed in me and I can see the good in life instead of dwelling on the negative. I am not sure if maybe my brain finally snapped on or if this is something that comes with age. Whichever it is, it is just another thing to be grateful for.

Thank you for being a part of the hop and for the fantabulous prize!

    Happy holidays,
    Marlena

      Marlena,

The pleasure is mine. Thanks for stopping by. So, I guess you found the “secret” to look at the half-full part of the glass rather than the empty part? Congrats, it’s quite an achievement. Usually that happens when one hits rock-bottom. You either pick yourself up (no one will do it for you) and keep going, or you dwell on whatever hit you in the first place and can’t find the strength to move on. I guess you’re part of the first category which is called WINNER.
Good luck and lots of love!

OMG, you’re the second brand new mommy stopping by and oh, boy, do I feel special. Bless your heart, your home, your family. As I told Tara (the other mommy leaving a comment here) don’t forget to sleep when the baby sleeps. Rest is a MUST new mommies struggle to find the time for. Lots of love!

  83. Tara November 17, 2012 at 1:57 pm #

Thank you for the giveaway!!!I would have to say my kids. Me and my hubby just had our 3rd a little boy!So it would have to be them!

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 18, 2012 at 11:21 am #

      Tara,

Hip hip hurray for the lucky mommy and lucky number 3. May your heart and house be full of lots of love and laughter. Oh, and don’t forget to sleep. Us mommies have a tendency to think we can do the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning while the baby sleeps. The golden rule my mom taught me was: when the baby sleeps YOU sleep too. Everything else can wait.

      Alisia,

I hear you, girl. Staying up at night with a good book is so worthy. I was thinking about creating some sort of a device to keep my eyes open at work after a night lost reading… toothpicks don’t help, tried them but they poke my skin. Any creative soul out there knowing what can we do to stay awake?

Hi Camelia, I’m new to your blog and I just Liked your Facebook page 🙂 Thanks for this giveaway!

I’m grateful for my dad and mum and a roof over our heads. There are many people out there that are much less fortunate and I am thankful for what I have.

I hope to win so that I can get a book that’s been on my TBR list for quite awhile. It’s Easy by Tammara Webber or Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens.

    Thanks again! tess_halim(at)hotmail(dot)com

      Tess,

That’s really sweet of you to stop by and like me on FB. That’s quite a treat. A lot of people here mentioned being grateful for having their parents, and I’m glad you are one of them appreciating what you have. We do take for granted the roof over our heads, but in reality, this is not a given, but a blessing not everyone is fortunate enough to have it.
Good luck and lots of love!

I am grateful for my family. My daughter lives with my husband and I, and we are very close. Plus, tonight I just talked to my daughter in law and heard all about my grand kids and their excitement for Christmas.

    • CameliaMironSkiba November 25, 2012 at 10:16 am #

      Oh, Sherry,

I LOVE it when I hear parents and kids are close. I used to be really angry at my father growing up for the beatings he so generously administered…it took me a long time to forgive him. Ever since I did that, our relationship improved. Keep your family close together and may you and your have a wonderful Christmas!
      Thanks for stopping by.
