Let me just begin by saying I’m not perfect and have never claimed to be. I have flaws galore and embrace them more so than my qualities. With that being said, I admit I do judge a book by its cover (I just said I’m not perfect, right?). It’s the first thing that draws me to pick up a book and give it a chance. Not the author’s name, not the title or the blurb, but that image telling me something.
I adore all my covers as much as I adore each novel I wrote and published. Each cover has its own story forever engraved in the folds of my heart and mind. I can tell with a watchmaker’s precision what it was about each image that drew me in and why I picked it.
Knowing that, you can probably imagine how hard it was to change one of them, decision that I struggled with for a few years until I knew it was time to say goodbye. And like with all goodbyes, this one wasn’t easy.
I’m talking about my second novel, the military romance titled A WORLD APART. During the writing process I found the two images of the woman and the guy that totally personified Cassandra and David, my main characters. If love at first sight exists, that was it. They couldn’t be more perfect. From purchasing the images to having a full cover I was only a designer away.
As time passed and I graduated from the “baby” stage in the industry to that of a “toddler” I realized that my cover was missing something: the military aspect of it, and without it, it was just another cover for another romance. I needed something to make it stand out, something to let the reader know this novel is a military romance.
I can’t wait to reveal the new cover, which will be done with proper accolades and fireworks on May 25th here on my blog, all my social media accounts and several other blogs all over the world. I’d be delighted if you stop by to see it and to enter a giveaway for a $25.00 gift card at a retailer of your choice (Amazon, B&N or Starbucks 😉 )
