Dreaming Of Summer Blog Hop

26 Nov

As an Arizonan by choice I do not dream of summer. I have it ALL year long, or at least the sunshine. But that didn’t stop me from signing up to participate in Dreaming Of Summer Blog Hop organized by Kathy @ I’m A Reader Not A Writer and helped this time by Me, My Shelf and I.

For this hop the one obligatory rule is to host a giveaway for summer/beach read. That simple. Wearing my swim suit, a ton of sunscreen and flip-flops off I went to the beach called Amazon browsing for books. And one of the first books that popped on my browser was… Vlad All Over.

It caught my attention because Vlad is a famous Romanian name (Vlad the Impaler) but also because, in reading its blurb it says the main heroine (an American schoolteacher) goes on a trip to… Romania, the land of Dracula. Wait a minute! I was born and raised in the land of Dracula (and no, I haven’t seen vampires growing up, in case you wondered…). Now with all these tidbits, I had to know more about the book and started reading it through the look inside feature (love Amazon for this!). Needless to say it’s on my TBR list and decided to assign it as the prize for this giveaway.

Based on Amazon Best Seller Rank this book lands at # 11 in Books which means it’s a winner. And the plot happens during summer vacation, which complies with the hop’s rule.

So, for your chance to win an electronic version of Vlad All Over all you have to do is FOLLOW THIS BLOG BY EMAIL by clicking on the button to the right called “Sign me up!” (atop all images) AND leave your answer to the question:

What was your favorite summer read this year?

Mine was The American Sniper by Chris Kyle.

Good luck!

It’s A Love Thing–officially released!

2 Jun

It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of the summer anthology It’s A Love Thing, a compilation of 8 YA stories published by Prose By Design. Among them my historical YA short story called I Was Here–Before You Came.

BLURB:

Legend has it … centuries after Spartacus another hero is born—Ilias, the bastard son of King Decebalus. Thirsty for revenge and eager to unshackle the Roman oppression, Ilias’ obsession to fulfill his oath has no bounds, even if that means kidnapping Nerva, the beloved daughter of Emperor Traianus. What he doesn’t know is his own heart threatens to betray his conscience. What will prevail: his mind or his heart?

Writing Ilias’ story taught me a few things: I am the only one limiting myself. I can reach places I dream of and make them mine. I can write anything I set my mind to. I can.

Although the story goes back over 2000 years, the birth of the Romanian nation is a timeless tale, needed be told and celebrated for generations to come.  I added a new hero to my long list of favorite characters–Ilias, the bastard son of King Decebalus. He is the last Dacian King before the Roman conquest. Ilias is only 22 years old and yet he’s brave, fearless and destined to make history.

It was really fun and easy to work with him, in fact it took me only ten days to get his story jotted down.

And because it’s such a happy day I’m giving away one e-copy of the story and once e-copy of the whole anthology.

All you have to do to win is leave a comment here on this post answering the question:

Who’s son is Ilias?

A week from now, on 06/09 I’ll count all comments and use random.org to pick the winners. Don’t forget to leave your email address. Good luck everyone!

“Don’t Swim In That Water–It Has Algae!”

4 Mar

I stopped today at Karen’s site called Practical Frugality. She’s a wonderful blogger, mother of three and enjoys life to the fullest. I had lots of fun writing “Don’t Swim In That Water–It Has Algae!” as I take a trip down the memory lane back to spending summer without sun screen and swimming in infested waters. My immune system might be different than most people–after all I drank after others, I ate with dirty hands and used newspapers instead of toilet papers (I can look at it as having a very educated behind…)

May your Sunday be filled with peace and joy!
